When it comes to keeping our lawns beautiful, it takes both time and effort. We’ve seen mowers be paired with leaf blowers, string trimmers and a few other nifty tools needed to keep that landscaping in tip top shape. Of course one of the biggest backbones of our garages is a lawn mower, so whether you’re a new homeowner, an individual looking to upgrade (but not spend almost a thousand on a fancy model) or somebody merely researching, you’ve come to the right place. As we continue our duty to find the best power and lawn/garden tools, today we review the best lawn mowers for those on a budget, particularly for under $300.
Choosing the best lawn mower under $300
- Your budget – Although we’ve constrained our search to the best lawn mowers under $300, there is still a relatively big difference between a model that goes for $100 and one that hovers just below $300. The exact amount you are willing to spend will determine your choice here. Our top 10 best lawn mowers had some from each price range.
- Gas or electric? The most highly rated models nowadays are becoming more and more electric lawn mowers, especially within the lower budget range. We did include our gas lawn mower recommendation if you are interested in that type. If you do however decide to go electric, also keep in mind the cordless vs. corded debate and which may suit your needs.
- Cutting width – The average is around 18-12″, so we don’t recommend going any lower than that, especially if you plan on average uses of your lawn mower. You can probably get away with something around the 16″ but keep it there at a minimum.
- Additional features – Height adjustment (different positions), cord lock features, easy folding, push start, tool-less bagging, etc? Which features are worth the price hike for you? We personally recommend going with features that will help both time and efficiency, so something like height adjustment is key, but a push-start feature may not be completely necessary. That’s all up to you.
